“You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:25-28)

Principles about Servanthood
1. The greater the servant you become, the more leadership you will be given.

2. Our heart and motivation should always be to serve and not to be served.

3. A servant must be committed in serving others.

4. A person with a Christ-like attitude is someone who always maintains a servant’s heart.

5. Jesus gave one major prerequisite to leadership – servanthood.

6. It is hard to be a servant when you lack humility, or a “that’s not my job” mind set.
Practical Things You can do to be a Better Servant
1. Answer the phone.

2. Pick up trash in and around the building.

3. Be sensitive to other people’s time.

4. Don’t do things last minute that create pressure on someone else.

5. Never belittle someone in conversation or actions.
