This is something I feel strongly about for everyone, from the very young to the very old.
Life can move so quickly that we sometimes forget to ask ourselves why we’re here and what gives our days meaning. But I believe that no matter your age or stage of life, you can live with purpose and joy.
Here are three simple things everyone can do to make each day count.
1. Purpose
Every person, no matter their age, needs a purpose for living.
I truly believe each of us was created on purpose for a purpose. Whether it’s making a difference in someone’s life, using your talents to serve others, or simply being a source of encouragement, purpose gives our lives direction and significance.
2. Plan
Everyone needs a plan for the day.
Don’t just wake up and let the day happen; make your time intentional. A small plan can create a big sense of accomplishment.
A few years ago, I told my mom to do three meaningful things each day and check them off her list. It gave her energy and focus, and it reminded her that every day still matters.
3. Pleasure
Everyone needs something to look forward to.
Pleasure isn’t selfish; it’s life giving. It might be coffee with a friend, a walk in nature, a good book, or time with family. When we have something to anticipate, our days take on a brighter tone and our hearts feel lighter.
Whether you’re 91 years old like my dad or 21 years old like my granddaughter, these three things called purpose, plan, and pleasure can bring life into every day.
Don’t just exist. Live with purpose, plan with intention, and find joy in the moments that make life worth living.
