A Santa with a Cause

Santa Clause is a great example of the importance of having a cause. His whole existence is for others and one day; Christmas. Without a cause bigger than yourself, you will either be self-absorbed or lack direction for your life.

How to Embrace the Cause

Make the cause the main thing.

  • Help others see the cause and why it is important.
  • Communicate each person’s role in the cause.
  • Ensure that activity supports the cause.

Focus on the people as well as your cause.

  • Keep the team informed about the cause.
  • Model sustainability in your life.
  • Show respect to others.
  • Challenge team members to develop and grow.

Be loyal to people and the cause.

  • No matter the challenges, Santa is loyal to the cause.
  • He is loyal to the people he works with and the children who are counting on him.
  • Santa has built a loyal team that stays with him for the long haul.

Follow your passion.

  • Santa lives for Christmas.
  • Every day is spent on the cause to bring joy to others.
  • What are you passionate about?
  • There is no doubt about Santa’s passion.

It is better to give than receive.

  • Santa’s cause is all about giving.
  • As counter-intuitive as it may seem, you receive much when your cause is giving to others.

Listen to the elves.

  • Ask for ideas and listen to others to help the cause.
  • Solicit feedback early and often.
  • Walk awhile in their shoes.

Be good for goodness sake.

  • Set a good example for others to follow.
  • Create a healthy culture that includes collaboration, accountability, alignment, and teamwork.

It’s never too late to start.

  • Don’t delay.
  • Quit procrastinating.
  • Just start.

Santa has a cause and so should you!

Merry Christmas,
