Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I love it so much we put our Christmas tree up before Thanksgiving!

You have to admit Santa is a pretty cool dude. And he also has skills when it comes to leadership.

Here are a few of Santa’s leadership secrets:

1.  Build a wonderful workshop.

  • Make the mission the main thing

  • Focus on the people as well as the purpose

2.  Choose your reindeer wisely.

  • Hire tough, so that you can lead easily

  • Promote the right one, for the right reasons

3.  Make a list and check it twice.

  • Have a daily plan for success

  • Execute your plan

  • Be resourceful

4.  Listen to the elves.

  • Seek feedback

  • Pay attention to how you are perceived

  • Walk awhile in their shoes

5.  Get beyond the red wagons.

  • Help everyone accept the reality of change

  • Share the why not just the what and how

6.  Share the milk and cookies

  • Help your team see the difference they are making

  • Express gratitude and appreciation

7.  Find out who’s naughty and nice.

  • Confront performance problems early!

  • Coach up or counsel out

  •

8.  Be good, for goodness sake.

  • Set a good example

  • Establish guidelines and accountability

  • Remember, everything counts
