A Group of People We All Need

Have you ever heard the expression “Personal Board of Directors?”

Several times in the Bible, Proverbs says we need a “Multitude of Counselors.”

In my forty-plus years of leading organizations, I learned by experience that this is the truth! But unfortunately, in my early years of leading, I did not have a Personal Board of Directors, which cost me.

Who makes up a Personal Board of Directors? Some examples:

  • A literal Board of Directors

  • A Mastermind Group

  • Accountability Group

  • Family

  • Associates or friends in a similar field of work

What are some benefits Personal Board of Directors?

     1.  Honest feedback (Not looking for yes people)

     2.  Fresh eyes/different perspective

     3.  Experience

     4.  Expertise you lack

     5.  Connections you need

     6.  Accountability

     7.  Encouragement

You can probably think of others as well. The only downside is that it takes time, and you may not always like what you hear.

Forming your own Personal Board of Directors is easier than you think. So, who would be on your list?
